Ganesha and the Moon (Marathi)
“The Moon faced Ganesha’s wrath for laughing at him, when the elephant-headed god fell off the mouse he rode.
When Ravana obtained the Atmalinga from Shiva, the gods were perturbed and turned to Ganesha for a solution. Kind-hearted, benign and always ready to help, Ganesha can also display anger at injustice and foolishness.
This Amar Chitra Katha features stories that revolve around one of the most popular and endearing figures in Indian mythology.”
Ganesha is First and Krishna lifts Govardhana
The gods were ready for a three-lap race round the earth. The winner would get first pick of the offerings given by devotees. Just as the third round was on, Ganesha turned up. Upset with his laziness, Parvati asked him why he had not joined the race. Ganesha agreed to do so and won! How did he beat all the others!? Krishna urges the people of Brindavan to worship Mount Govardhana instead of Indra. Indra is furious and sends a terrible flood to destroy the little village.
Ganga
Ganga’s cleansing waters were urgently needed on earth. But, the spirited daughter of the mountain god was not to be easily subdued as her waters darted about uncontrollably. Only Shiva could tame her by entangling her in the coils of his hair. When her waters could finally wend their way out, they were calmer and purer. They turned arid wastes into fertile land and filled up the oceans. Since those ancient times when King Bhagiratha sought her help, Ganga, whether roaring or placid, dancing or somber, continues to enchant one and all with her life-giving beauty.

When she was gifted a little black calf, she took care of it as if it were her child. The calf grew up to be a mighty bull and wanted to help Badka Devi live comfortably. How did the bull earn money and help her?

Geeta – Hindi
The Gita or The Bhagavad Gita is a philosophical exposition that was presented by Lord Krishna. It is in the form of a dialogue between Krishna and his close friend Arjuna. This conversation took place in the middle of a battlefield with the two sides arrayed for war.The Gita (Amar Chitra Katha) is a comic book presentation of the work and is at an introductory level appropriate for younger readers. Amar Chitra Katha is a popular comic book series in India, and it mainly presents tales from Indian epics, the Puranas, and classical works. The Gita (Amar Chitra Katha) presents the profound philosophy of the Bhagawad Gita at a basic level for young readers. The script writers had the help of Sri CHinmayananda and His Holiness Swami Ranganathananda in deciding what to include and how to present it.The philosophy of the Gita draws on older works like the Upanishads. The Gita provides a crisp and practical philosophy that is very flexible in allowing for many interpretations. As this might cause confusion in young readers, The Gita (Amar Chitra Katha) sticks to a fundamental presentation, allowing the readers to explore further on their own if they are interested.
