Dadi Janki a Century of Service by Liz Hodgkinson
Dadi Janki, the unusual subject of this biography, presides over a unique global spiritual empire run and led by women.
Born in 1916 into a traditional Hindu family, she was expected to follow the standard pattern for Indian women of the day, which was to succumb to an arranged marriage at the earliest possible opportunity and then disappear from view.
But she had other ideas. Since the age of two, she has only ever wanted to connect to one being, and that is God. She never sought nor desired any other relationship and she managed to escape her unwanted marriage in order to dedicate her life to spiritual study, service and contemplation.
She joined the Brahma Kumaris, then in its infancy, in 1937, and for many years, ran centres in India. In the early 1970s, the decision was taken to try and introduce the movement to the West and Dadi Janki arrived in London with no real idea how she would do it.
Her task was made especially difficult as she arrived not speaking any English, with no money, no influence and nowhere to live. But with God as her constant companion, she never gave up and within 20 years of being in London, had established the Brahma Kumaris as a respected, influential, worldwide organization.
This is the story of how she did it.

Dalit Sahitya : Nai Chunautiyan by Ramshankar Katheria
वैश्वीकरण के वर्तमान दौर में, जब इतिहास के अंत की घोषणा की जा रही है, स्मृतियों के ध्वस का नारा उछाला जा रहा है, सामाजिक सरोकारों का विकेंद्रीकरण हो रहा है—ऐसे में यदि दलित साहित्य सीमित और संकीर्ण होता जाएगा, तो वह बाबा साहब भीमराव के आदर्शों के एकदम विपरीत होगा।
बाबा भीमराव साहित्य को तरक्की का आधार मानते थे, वहीं साहित्यकारों का महत्त्व भी उनकी दृष्टि में सम्मानजनक था। आज दलित साहित्य जिस प्रकार अपनी समस्याओं और स्वार्थों तक सीमित हो गया है, उससे बाबा साहब कदापि सहमत नहीं हो सकते थे। वे न केवल दलितों को, अपितु दलित साहित्य को संपूर्ण विश्व के दलितों और शोषितों से जोड़ना चाहते थे।
इस दृष्टि से दलित साहित्य को न केवल अपनी सर्जनात्मक क्षमता को वैश्विक स्तर पर सिद्ध करना होगा, बल्कि संपूर्ण दलित एवं शोषित समाज को दूसरे दलित एवं शोषितों को नवजागरण के लिए प्रेरित करना होगा। प्रस्तुत पुस्तक इसी प्रयास की शृंखला में एक कड़ी है, जो दलित साहित्य में पेश आनेवाली चुनौतियों एवं कठिनाइयों का दिग्दर्शन कराती है।
Dalit-Muslim Rajneetik Gathjod by Dr. Bizay Sonkar Shashtri
‘दलित-मुसलिम एकता’ का भ्रम उत्पन्न करके वास्तव में कुछ नेता आज देश में राजनीतिक आधार पर अपनी स्वार्थपूर्ति हेतु गठजोड़ बना रहे हैं। एकता एवं गठबंधन तो सामाजिक एवं राजनीतिक उद्देश्य की पूर्ति के लिए सकारात्मक क्रियाकलाप के अंतर्गत आता है, किंतु गठजोड़ तो नीति या विचारधारा को ताक पर रखकर सत्ता की भूख मिटाने के लिए किया जाता है। ऐसे में इस प्रकार के गठजोड़ से समाज एवं देश टूटता है।
डॉ. भीमराव आंबेडकर का मानना था कि अवसरवादी गठजोड़ नहीं, बल्कि समाज के उन्नति के लिए एकता आवश्यक है। राजनीतिक गठजोड़ समान विचारधारा एवं समान कार्यक्रम पर नहीं, अपितु स्वार्थ एवं अनीति पर आधारित सोच से सत्ता की भूख मिटाने का एक साधन है। बुनियादी रूप से डॉ. आंबेडकर दलित-मुसलिम गठजोड़ के विरुद्ध थे। प्रस्तुत पुस्तक में दलित-मुसलिम गठजोड़ पर डॉ. आंबेडकर के विचारों का विस्तृत उल्लेख दिया जा रहा है। इस पुस्तक के माध्यम से डॉ. आंबेडकर के विचारों के आलोक में दलित-मुसलिम गठजोड़ का वास्तविक चेहरा भी सामने आएगा।

बाबू जगजीवन राम का चरित्र यकीनन बहुत विराट् था। उन्होंने दलित उत्थान तथा देश की आजादी एवं राजनीति में अहम योगदान दिया। एक दलित नेता होने के नाते उनका नाम आते ही लोग उनकी तुलना डॉ. भीमराव आंबेडकर से करने लगते हैं, जबकि बाबू जगजीवन राम के बारे में बात करते वक्त उनके व्यक्तित्व को अलग से देखने की जरूरत है। इसकी एक वजह तो यही है कि जहाँ आंबेडकर एक सिद्धांतकार थे, तो वहीं यह नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि बाबू जगजीवन राम कुशल प्रशासक और व्यावहारिक व्यक्ति। इसलिए इन दोनों का काम अपनी-अपनी जगह अलग है। आंबेडकर ने जहाँ संविधान निर्माण और आजादी की लड़ाई में अहम योगदान दिया तो जगजीवन राम का योगदान आजादी की लड़ाई के बाद देश के प्रशासन में भी अहम है। उन्हें सन् 1948 के बाद जो भी विभाग मिला, अगर उनके काम को देखें तो वह उल्लेखनीय है।
इस पुस्तक में उनके जन्म से लेकर अभाव भरे जीवन के साथ-साथ उनकी राजनीति और देश की आजादी में उनके योगदान पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डाला
गया है।
अत्यंत सरल और सुबोध शैली में लिखित यह पुस्तक अन्य जीवनियों की तरह बोझिल नहीं होती, वरन् सरस भी बनी रहती है और बाबू जगजीवन राम के विराट् व्यक्तित्व को रेखांकित कर उन्हें प्रेरणापुरुष बनाती है।

दांपत्य के 60 वर्ष पूरे हुए। यात्रा समाप्त नहीं हुई हैं। शुरुआत में चार वर्ष सिर्फ हम दोनों थे। मैं विद्यार्थी, वे प्रोफेसर। प्रथम दो वर्ष हम लोग साथ नहीं रहते थे। प्रारंभ में उनका कॉलेज पश्चिम बंगाल में, मैं मुजफ्फरपुर में दो वर्ष के बाद ये 1960 के दिसंबर से मुजफ्फरपुर रामदयालु सिंह कॉलेज में पढ़ाने लगे। गणेश (सेवक) के सहयोग से श्री गणेश हुआ हमारे चौकाचुल्हे का। बोलने और सुनने में छह दशक बहुत लंबा लगता है। 60 वर्ष छह दशक से दस गुणा ।स्मृति को लंबा फैलाव देना होता हैं।
स्मृतियों को कागज पर उतारने के पूर्व बहुत मुश्किल लगता था, लेकिन जैसे-जैसे आगे बढ़ती गई, बड़ी सहजता से लेखनी उन पलों को उकेरती गई, जिन्हें मैंने मनमस्तिष्क में सँवार रखा था। प्रकाशक को भेजने के पूर्व स्वयं पढ़ने बैठी तो ऐसा लगा कि पलों में बीत गए 60 वर्ष ।
ऐसा भी नहीं कि इनकी सारी बातेंव्यवहार मुझे अच्छे ही लगते रहे। आदत बन गई थीं चुप रह जाने की। कुछ देर बाद ही शांत मन से विश्लेषण करती। तब तक अपना गुस्सा भी शांत हो जाया करता था। कैसी जोड़ी रब ने बनाई थी। एक आत्मविश्वास से लबालब भरा हुआ, दूसरी ने आत्मविश्वास लाने में 60 वर्ष बिता दिया। अब भी अपने पर पूर्ण विश्वास नहीं।
पति-पत्नी के बीच विचारों और व्यवहारों का भी घोल हो जाता हैं। कुछ दिनों बाद छाँटना मुश्किल कि कौन सा विचार किसका हैं। यही तो दांपत्य हैं। यहीं रूप हैं। अर्धनारीश्वर का।
भारतीय संस्कृति में सौ वर्ष की आयु माने जानेवाले मनुष्य जीवन के आविर्भाव से लेकर अवसान तक के समय में सोलह संस्कारों की व्यवस्था की गई है। यों तो संस्कारों में विवाह का स्थान पंद्रहवें संस्कार के स्थान पर आता है, इसके पूर्व के चौदह संस्कारों की गणना सही मायने में जीवन की तैयारी के संस्कार हैं। इसलिए कि विवाह की आयु (शास्त्रों के अनुसार 25 वर्ष) तक पहुँचते-पहुँचते युवक और युवतियों के शरीर, मन और बुद्धि परिपक्व होते हैं। वे विवाह करके गृहस्थाश्रम में प्रवेश कर अपने सांसारिक जीवन को आगे बढ़ाते हैं।
वैवाहिक जीवन के संचालक तत्वों पर गहराई से विचार करते हुए लेखिका के मन में दांपत्य की तुलना दलहन (मूग, चना, अरहर, मटर, मसूर) के एक दाने से करना शतप्रतिशत उचित लगा। दलहन के दाने के ऊपर जो छिलका (आवरण) हैं, वही अंदर के दो दलों को बाँधकर रखता हैं। जब तक वह आवरण हैं, तभी तक दोनों दल आपस में संबद्ध रहते हैं। उनमें जीवनीशक्ति होती हैं। वे एक से अनेक हो ही सकते हैं, उनमें उच्च विचारों की भी उत्पत्ति और संवर्धन होता हैं। ज्योंही छिलका (दांपत्य) अलग कर दिया जाता है, उनकी उर्वराशक्ति समाप्त हो जाती है। दलहन के दाने अंकुरित भी नहीं हो सकते और पति-पत्नी अपनी पारिवारिकसामाजिक जिम्मेदारियाँ भलीभाँति पूरी नहीं कर सकते।

It was in 1807 that Paul-Louis Courier discovered in the Laurentian Library, in Florence, a manuscript of the Pastorales de Longus containing a rather long passage hitherto unknown. Later, he transcribed this fragment, and in 1810 he had a complete edition of the Greek text printed in Rome, which was printed at only fifty-two copies. The same year, he had sixty copies of Amyot’s version printed in Florence, in which he had introduced a translation [Pg 6]of the newly discovered fragment, made by him in the style of the first translator.
In 1813, he published at Firmin Didot a “complete translation according to the Greek text of the best manuscripts”. In this translation he had preserved as much as Amyot’s.

विनोद बंधु ईमानदारी और पारदर्शिता से ओत-प्रोत कुछ प्रामाणिक पत्रकारों में से एक हैं। ‘दैनिक हिंदुस्तान’ में सन् 2012 से 2015 के बीच उन्होंने अपने साप्ताहिक कॉलम ‘दस्तक’ में अनेकानेक विषयों पर लिखा था, जो राजसत्ता के लिए चेतावनी देनेवाले और नागरिक समाज के लिए आँख खोलनेवाले होते थे। चूँकि दैनिक हिंदुस्तान बिहार में सर्वाधिक बिकनेवाला अखबार है, इसलिए उनके कॉलम का सरकार पर अकसर निर्णायक प्रभाव होता था। फलतः सरकार अपनी कमियों को दुरुस्त ही नहीं करती थी, बल्कि अपने शासन-तंत्र को भी एक काम करनेवाले राज्य के ढाँचे में बदलने की कोशिश करती थी। ‘दस्तक’ अपनेपन की भावना के साथ बिहार का प्रचार-प्रसार करने में भी बहुत महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता था। ऐसे समय में जब राज्य में उप-राष्ट्रीयता की भावना लगभग अनुपस्थित थी, उसको मजबूत करने में ‘दस्तक’ की गंभीर भूमिका रही। उप-राष्ट्रीयता कोई गुप्त एजेंडा नहीं है। इसे मजबूत करने के लिए ज्वलंत सामाजिक मुद्दों के प्रति चिंतित होना जरूरी है। ऐसे मुद्दे उनके कॉलम में निखरकर आते थे। ‘दस्तक’ में बिहार के बजट या अन्य आर्थिक मुद्दों पर ही बारीकी से चर्चा नहीं होती थी, बल्कि उसमें राज्य को ‘विशेष श्रेणी’ का दर्जा दिलाने के लिए एक जुझारू प्रयास दिखता था। ‘दस्तक’ सरकार के लिए कोई थपकी नहीं थी। यह नागरिक समाज के लिए महत्त्वपूर्ण सुझाव था। यह एक ऐसा उत्प्रेरक माध्यम था, जिसने अनेक बहस-मुबाहिसे पैदा किए। सोशल मीडिया के दौर में, जब वास्तविकता को समझना मुश्किल है, ‘दस्तक’ ने राज्य के सबसे महत्त्वपूर्ण दौर में सामाजिक आलोड़न पैदा करने में पथ-प्रदर्शक की भूमिका निभाई।

रोज़ सुबह से रात और रात से सुबह के दौरान तमाम तरह के खयाल हमारे दिल और दिमा़ग पर दस्तक देते हैं, तमाम तरह की घटनाओं और अनुभवों से होकर हम सभी गुज़रते हैं, कुछ अच्छा होता है, कुछ बुरा, कभी सह लिया जाता है तो कभी मन करता है कुछ बदल दें, कभी हम चुप रह जाते हैं तो कभी लगता है कहना ज़रूरी है। अब बात ये आती है कि जब कहना ज़रूरी हो तो सुनने वाला भी मिल ही जाए, यह हमेशा मुमकिन तो नहीं और बात दिल ही में रह जाए तो ऐसे में दिल पर बोझ बढ़ जाता है।
एक दिन यूँ ही उँगलियों ने मोबाइल की स्क्रीन पर चहल़कदमी करते हुए ट्विटर तक पहुँचा दिया, वहाँ लोगों को अपनी बात दुनिया के सामने रखते हुए देखा तो लगा, यह जगह अपने लिए भी एक ज़रिया हो सकती है दिल को हल्का करने का। तो लिखना शुरू किया ‘वजूद’ नाम से। शुरुआत में एक-दो वाह भी मिल जातीं तो लगता कि शायद बात ठीक-ठाक तरह से सामने वाले तक पहुँच गई, व़क्त के साथ महसूस हुआ कि ये वाह तारी़फ से ज़्यादा इस बात का इशारा है कि जो बात मैं कह रहा हूँ, यह बात पढ़ने वाले के दिल की ही बात थी, जिसे सिर्फ ल़फ्ज़ों में ढालने का काम मैंने कर दिया, और इस तरह मेरे साथ ही शायद पढ़ने वालों के दिल को भी राहत मिलती रही। बात को और बेहतर ढंग से कहने की हमेशा कोशिश करता रहा, जो कि अब भी जारी है, लोगों के प्यार की बदौलत हौसला और पसंद करने वालों की तादाद दिनों-दिन बढ़ती गई, जिसका मैं हमेशा शुक्रगुज़ार रहूँगा।
