पीयूष पांडे को मैं कुछ साल से व्यक्तिगत तौर पर जानता हूँ। एक ब्लॉग लिखने के सिलसिले में पीयूष पांडे से मेरी मुलाकात आरंभ हुई थी और तब मुझे यह अहसास हुआ कि इनके भीतर एक व्यंग्यकार छिपा हुआ है, जो समय-समय पर बाहर आता रहता है। आजकल जब मैं इनके ट्वीट और फेसबुक पोस्ट पढ़ता हूँ तो मेरा अहसास और पुख्ता हो जाता है। पीयूष गंभीर-से-गंभीर विषय को बड़े व्यंग्यात्मक तरीके से पेश करते हैं और विषय से जुड़ी विसंगतियों और आक्रोश को बड़ी सहजता और व्यंग्यात्मक अंदाज में सामने लाते हैं। ‘धंधे मातरम्’ के लिए पीयूष को मेरी शुभकामनाएँ।

धर्म की इस विकृति व भ्रांति के साथ स्वार्थ व अहंकार इतना अधिक जुड़ गए है कि सामान्य व्यक्ति धर्म की वास्तविक अवधारणा को भूलकर इस विभाजित चेतना को ही सत्य मानने लगा है। विभाजित व स्वार्थ प्रधान चेतना से उपजे जो विभिन्न धर्म हैं उनमे से अनेक केवल अपने अहंकार, स्थार्थ व आक्रामकता के काराण ही फल-फूल रहे हैं। धर्म का आवरण लेकर अपनाई गई यह आक्रामकता ही ‘ सांप्रदायिकता’ है। इस आक्रामकता को कहीं राजनीतिक कारणों से अपनाया गया और कहीं आर्थिक कारणों से तो कहीं सामाजिक कारणों से। आज स्थिति इतनी बिगड़ी हुई है कि अपना- अपना तथाकथित धार्मिक दर्शन थोपने के लिए धनबल, छलबल व बाहुबल का खुलकर प्रयोग हो रहा है और वह भी सभ्यता व संस्कृति के नाम पर ।
धर्म का लक्ष्य है भेदजनित भ्रांति व अज्ञान का निवारण। लेकिन वस्तुस्थिति यह है कि यह निवारण भी वैयक्तिक स्तर पर ही अनुभूति के माध्यम से करना होगा । इस दृष्टि से भेद की सत्ता के अस्तित्व को जगत् के स्तर पर अस्वीकार नहीं किया जा सकता। जैसेकि महासागर में लहर के अस्तित्व को अस्वीकार नहीं किया जा सकता, वैसे ही विराट् चैतन्य के महासागर में भेद रूपी लहर को स्वीकार करना ही होगा; पर ध्यान रहे कि वास्तविक अस्तित्व लहर का नहीं है वरन् महासागर का है ।
प्रस्तुत पुस्तक में लेखक ने जीवन के सभी पक्षों को लेकर समाज, धर्म, देश आदि अनेक विषयों पर अपने भावों को व्यक्त किया है।

भारत की आर्ष-परंपरा के बारे में औपनिवेशिक काल से लेकर अब तक एक विशेष विचार का सृजन एवं पोषण किया गया है, जिसके अनुसार भारतीय समाज हजारों सालों से विभिन्न जातियों में बँटा हुआ था और ये जातियाँ एक-दूसरे को घृणा तथा हेयदृष्टि से देखती थीं। इसका कारण यह बताया गया कि ‘मनुस्मृति’ जैसी रचनाओं के कारण ही भारत में जाति प्रथा का सृजन हुआ और ऐसी रचनाओं के प्रभाव एवं दबाव के कारण ही आज तक भारत में जातियाँ प्रचलन में हैं।
अंग्रेजों को जातियों को कलुषित करने से कई लाभ थे। वे भारतीय समाज को विखंडित कर सकते थे। दूसरे, भारतीय सृजन-परंपरा के मूल स्वरूप को ही भ्रष्ट कर सकते थे। यह वैचारिक स्थिति स्वतंत्रता तक आते-आते इतनी प्रबल हो गई कि स्वतंत्रता के बाद भी भारत के ऐतिहासिक लेखन एवं समाजशास्त्रीय लेखन ने औपनिवेशिक चर्चा को ही आदर्श मान उसका अंधानुकरण किया और ‘मूल रचनाओं एवं कृतियों’ तथा वास्तविक अवस्था का सांगोपांग अध्ययन करना आवश्यक ही नहीं समझा।
प्रस्तुत पुस्तक में प्राचीन भारतीय मामलों के विद्वानों के एकपक्षीय और मनपसंद विषय, मनु के सिद्धांतों पर वैकल्पिक विचार प्रस्तुत करने का गंभीर प्रयास किया गया है और यह भी स्पष्ट किया गया है कि कैसे अंग्रेज विद्वानों ने धर्म को कानून तथा धर्मशास्त्र के ग्रंथों को हिंदुओं का कानून बना दिया; और कैसे यह विचार-परंपरा अभी भी बलवान है।

Over the last many centuries, Indians have travelled to many near and far off destinations in the world for trade, business, education and jobs. One major wave of such movement was carried out by the colonial administration under the so called indentured system for meeting labour shortages in their overseas plantations. This inhuman system of exploitation of workers finally ended and the centenary of its abolition was commemorated in many parts of the world including India during 2017-18. Antar Rashtrya Sahyog Parishad (ARSP) had organised year long activities to mark this important land mark in the life of Indian diaspora, culminating with an international conference on the topic, ‘Contribution of Diaspora in Nation Building’ in Mauritius in July 2018.
